Reclaim Your Inner Badass* (Fantasy Edition)

April 4, 10 am- 1:30 (ish)

Most of us grew up loving stories—books, movies, imaginary worlds where people were braver, bolder, and more fully themselves. Somewhere along the way, many of us were taught to stop imagining, stop playing, and be practical instead.

This workshop is an invitation to pick that back up—and turn it into something real.

In this session, you’ll create your own fantasy character from the ground up, guided step by step in a supportive, no-pressure environment. We’ll begin with imagination and identity—who your character is, what they’ve lived through, and how they move through the world—then translate those ideas into an actual, playable Dungeons & Dragons character.

As part of that process, you’ll explore what kind of character feels most like you:

Would you rather be…

• A Wizard who learned power by paying attention, remembering everything, and realizing that knowledge is leverage—especially when people assume you’re harmless

• An Elf who has outlasted trends, nonsense, and most people’s opinions, sees patterns early, and knows when disappearing is the smartest move

• A Ranger who trusts their instincts over advice, prefers a bow and some distance, and knows how to survive when things get quiet and no one’s coming to help

• A Fighter who shows up, takes the hit, holds the line, and keeps going—not because it’s heroic, but because quitting was never really an option

• A Rogue who clocked early that the rules weren’t built for them, learned to improvise fast, and survives by being sharper than the room

• A Bard who uses humor and stories as both shield and weapon, controls the narrative, and knows exactly when to drop the truth and walk away

• A Druid who chose the edge instead of the center, trusts cycles and change more than systems, and refuses to shrink just to make others comfortable

• A Cleric who has carried other people through hard things, learned the cost of care, and is finally reclaiming strength through boundaries and belief

Or whatever character you’ve always imagined yourself being, but never had a place to try on.

From there, we’ll gently and clearly cover the mechanics, in plain language, with plenty of space for questions. This class is designed especially for absolute beginners, including those who haven’t played since the 80s or have never played at all.

Because... Coming soon to The Creative Jam: small-group Dungeons & Dragons play sessions with just 6–8 players per table, made up of others who are also new or returning after a long break. These sessions are intentionally paced, welcoming, and beginner-friendly, no being thrown in with seasoned players or expected to already know the rules.

This workshop is the perfect first step, giving you both a character and the confidence to join Creative Jam’s upcoming D&D playtime.

You’ll leave this session with:

A completed (or nearly completed) D&D character, maybe with a name and an idea of what they look like

A clear understanding of how the game works

The comfort of knowing you’ll be playing alongside people just like you

No gatekeeping. No judgment. No pressure.

Just imagination, guidance, and permission to play again.
